Chip conveyor systems are prevalent on CNC machines either as part of the machine or as an accessory. The primary purpose of a chip conveyor system is to remove scrap, or chips, produced by the cutting tool. Also called a scrap conveyor, a chip conveyor is typically operated using a various conveyor control systems positioned adjacent to the conveyor. Chip conveyors must be extremely reliable, as maintenance downtime and loss of production can be expensive.
Most manufacturing processes require scrap or chip conveyors to collect metal chips or other waste generated during production.
