Chip conveyor systems are prevalent on CNC machines either as part of the machine or as an accessory. The primary purpose of a chip conveyor system is to remove scrap, or chips, produced by the cutting tool. Also called a scrap conveyor, a chip conveyor is typically operated using a various conveyor control systems positioned adjacent to the conveyor. Chip conveyors must be extremely reliable, as maintenance downtime and loss of production can be expensive.
Most manufacturing processes require a type of chip conveyor to collect metal chips or other waste generated during production. The chip conveyors are integrated into manufacturing equipment like CNC lathes, mills, stamping presses, and other machines to convey scrap and chips to a waste receptacle.
MC3 Manufacturing carries several types of conveyors to meet specific needs. From hopper conveyors to scrap conveyors, they cover it all. Their standard features include:
Our hinged belt conveyors process light and medium-weight metal scraps, though they can be customized for large, heavy chips. These conveyors are often gravity-fed and inclined, so metal chips fall down an enclosed chute into a storage bin below. A hinged scrap conveyor is capable of filtering coolant discharged by the machine tool. Our precision pans and innovative steel hinges eliminate gaps between belt segments, making our hinged belt conveyors more reliable and effective than traditional belt conveyors.
MC3’s magnetic chip conveyors separate ferrous and non-ferrous waste, making it easier to recycle or dispose of different types of metals. These fully enclosed systems protect the chain, magnets, and gear drive from scrap contamination while maintaining a low-profile presence in your facility.
Our drag-out conveyors provide a cost-effective method of removing tiny chips from a machining operation, which includes filtering fine chips from coolants. The bottom of the conveyor’s chamber is abrasion-resistant, so the equipment stays in good condition even while handling abrasive particles.
The drag scraper removes impurities from the coolant, depositing them in the appropriate discharge area. The coolant is delivered to its ultimate destination.
The FilterMaster™ is a conveyor we offer that has two conveyors: a drag-out chain steel belt to handle large, heavy scraps and a lower drag-out system to convey fine chips. The FilterMaster™ has a drum filter equipped with a backwash system that continuously cleans the drum, as well as a viewing window and coolant system.
MC3’s scrap conveyors are facility-wide, turnkey systems that can withstand harsh manufacturing environments and even offer longer lifespans. These hinged steel belts are ideal for both large and small scrap. They’re smart conveyors monitored by human-machine interface (HMI) software.
For over 20 years, MC3 Manufacturing has specialized in the design and manufacture of adaptable conveyor systems. Our three main capabilities are manufacturing standard conveyor and filtration systems, custom fabricating steel products, and designing and engineering material handling systems.
Our heavy-duty scrap and chip scrap conveyor systems are robust and durable, so you can rely on them to keep your business operating smoothly, with minimal downtime. They come with HMI screens to let you keep track of the system, with interfaces for presses and scales. Conveyors are designed for optimal efficiency, cleanliness, and space savings in every facility.
